Default Towns Outside Denver

Hey everyone. I plan on moving to the area, and I've been doing research on towns outside Denver. I was wondering if I could get some input from you guys.

Basically I'm looking for a fairly rural town within 45 minutes - an hour of Denver, somewhere I can get some land for a few horses, that isn't enormously expensive. I was looking mostly in Boulder County, but I'm open to anywhere with a good school district and a rural/country atmosphere.

Any suggestions?

EDIT: Also forgot to mention I'm looking for more mountains rather then plains. Thanks =] But again, every suggestion is appreciated.

Thanks! I'm definitely looking at those places, but I have a feeling the mountains will suit us more. I've never been to the plains, so who knows! =]

I don't really have one as of yet actually, fact is we won't be moving for the next 5 years or so, so I probably shouldn't have even mentioned expense in my post since it will probably change dramtically over the next 5 years. We just fell in love with CO and once we're able to we're definitely moving there. Really just going for location and school district more then anything at this point I suppose. My husband is planning on transferring over to the Denver Police Dept though because they accept out of state lateral transfers, so that's why we're trying to stick fairly close to Denver without living in the city/burbs.

What part of Denver will you be working in or using as your target? Just crossing town during rush hour can take 45 minutes.

I'd add Conifer/Aspen Park/Evergreen to the above lists.
