Wanting to move to CO!!! please help:)
I am 20 years old, a sophmore at DePaul University in Chicago...I have been thinking about moving to Colorado for a while because the city just isn't right for me, I snowboard and love the outdoors! I am looking for a nice young town with good boarding and a lively feel, friendly and really beautiful. If anyone has any suggestions of great towns for a young boarder, I would really appreciate it! I dont want a town thats too yuppy (like boulder). but lively.
I also need suggestions for housing, I might move with another girl friend of mine and we dont want to get stuck in a bad area of a town.
Any input would be great!

Are you looking for a town that has a University to finish your degree? This will limit your options, naturally.
Denver, in general, is an excellent choice (University of Denver would be an option for you). Golden has easy access to the ski resorts, a boarding friend of mine wants to move there eventually. Arvada and Westminster are also good choices with quick access to I-70. I'm a single female (20s) and I've never felt uncomfortable in the west part of Denver, but there's a great lively feel there, also. There are many reasonably priced apartments in Arvada and Westminster that are safe for young women.
Best of luck to you. I'm originally from the Midwest, myself, and never enjoyed the Chicago area. I think you'll find Denver to be much different, not only because it suits your lifestyle, but it's a city with great people and many opportunities.

What is your price range for housing or rental budget?
What line of work are you in?
Where do you expect to work?

young and lively
Depending upon your financial situation, look at Durango. It is a beautiful city located in s/w CO. All the outdoor activities you could want, lively, young, with a state college. It is pricey, but that is relative. There are other towns on the front range which would fit your criteria, but they are not in the mountains, but relatively close. Fort Collins area is great, I know, having lived there myself in my younger days. It is home to Colorado State University, and has the best parks and rec department. Best of Luck.

this may add quite a bit more detail: I am looking to finish school. Also, I am not worried about a job, I work in an office now as a student worker which pays low so any job will work for a short while, until I find something new.
I live in Lincoln Park right now where my rent is a bit pricey at $600 a month, so no higher than that! I just want a safe, fun place to live where I can finish school and enjoy boarding, with nice people!
Thank you all so much

It would help to know which schools you are most interested in. There's the University of Denver, which is in South Denver, then there's the University of Colorado at Denver / Metro State College of Denver etc., which is near downtown, then there's Regis University in NW Denver, then there's Mines in Golden, then there's the University of Colorado at Boulder in Boulder. So, what kind of school are you looking for? DePaul has a pretty wide variety of curricula, and is most comparable to the University of Denver and University of Colorado at Boulder. However, Regis is also comparable in that it's a Roman Catholic university. Or maybe none of that matters and you're interested in a specific curriciulum or a specific school. Details, details.

I currently have declared a communications major, so something in that field is what I am looking for at a four-year institution. Durango looks like a perfect town except the college there does not have my major!

I guess Fort Lewis in Durango has a degree you can personalize so that may work, also Western state in Gunnison, Colorado State in Fort Collins, University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, as well as a few schools in Denver. I have visited Winter Park before and really loved that atmosphere, I am looking for a town that is in the mountains and is not to hustle bustle as much as the city, with laid back people. Boulder looks nice but I have hear it is snobby? Also, close to skiing/boarding areas.
