I am moving to Colorado for work in about 1 week. My auto insurance policy here in Virginia conveniently expires at the exact same time. I have been with Allstate for the past few years, but I am curious if there are better options that people recommend going with in Colorado (I will be living in Boulder so I don't know how rates vary in the different cities).

Any input would be fantastic!

If you are living in Boulder proper expect your car insurance to be higher. I'd look at Progressive, Amica, Geico.
If you are a Costco member, check their rates too (Ameriprise).
Correct me if I am mistaken, but I thought you had to have a military connection to get USAA insurance. I don't think it is available to just anyone.

Best to shop the marketplace here for quotes, they can vary widely.

There are three majors which I didn't like doing business with as a repair shop in Colorado: Allstate, Farmer's, and State Farm.

While every insurance company has an obligation to spend the company money wisely, it seemed to me that the adjusters from these three companies consistently declined to spend what was appropriate to perform repairs properly for their customers more than any other companies I dealt with. As well, I saw them use a lot of high pressure tactics to get clients to accept low settlements for cars that were total loss claims. Based upon that experience for my customer's cars, I wouldn't choose these insurance companies for my own car insurance coverage.
