Ah, Slopeside. That will work and will be nice. You will not need to drive at all to hit the slopes. Walk out your door and get your skis on. Probably more trouble to check your skis than it would be to store them at your condo.
Keystone has night skiing which makes it very attractive especially when you are that close. We like to get up at our own pace, fix breakfast & eat, get ready and hit the slopes. It may be 10:00 before we get on the first lift. By now some people are already starting to take a break and by the time we are going full force or have made it to the backside most are already taking lunch. By the time those people are coming back from lunch we are ready for lunch. We may have something going in the crockpot in the condo or eat at Gassy's at Mountain House (right by where you are staying). Gassy's is the bar/restaurant and is a great place to meet up to get a quick bite and a drink. Sometimes we will eat at the top of the mountain but always AFTER the big lunch rush otherwise you can not find a place to sit.
If we go to Gassy's or back to the condo we take our time eating and relax. Then hit the slopes again after a nice long break. Some people may already be leaving the slopes by now so again it is not as crowded. Those that have kids in ski school or the childcare really can not go by this schedule so we can avoid a lot of the crowds. We can take a LONGER break for dinner and if we eat in at the condo and then feel up to it hit the slopes for one last run just for grins. I LOVE the night skiing. It is sooooo peaceful. We are always with a large group and have the best time when we go at night just having a blast and hardly anyone else around. There have been MANY times we have finished dinner and all of a sudden one of the guys gets a wild hair and they will throw on their ski garb and take another run since it is right there. This is one HUGE advantage for being ski-in/ski-out at Keystone. You can take advantage of the night skiing much easier. You can also take off for a day and go shopping and running around to sightsee early in the day and come back and ski for an hour or so later on.
It has been a few years since we have skied Keystone but at Gassy's they had these nachos that were a meal by themselves for 2 people.
Take a sleigh ride one night. You don't have to do the dinner sleigh ride to get the enjoyment out of it. It really is fun.
