As the year comes to an end I find myself closer to a possible move to Colorado. My biggest worry is the job market? Does any one out there know how building is going? I have built everything and homes are my last choice to manage, so high rise lofts to retail would be what I am loking into.

I know quite a few contractors who were turning away work a year ago who now are begging for business. I think we are in the middle of "overshoot"--a lot of construction projects that were underway before the mortgage mess started. As those get completed, I don't think that there will be new work to replace them. Then the downturn will become much more apparent. There are a LOT of residential homes for sale--that market is already in trouble. It's a matter of time until it spills over into commercial and industrial. I've watched it do it before, and all the ominous signs are there.

homes in the 1mil and up are doing quite well in Colorado for construction and design, you might think about getting in with a custom home builder.
