What do you love and hate about living in Colorado?
Hi everyone,
Our family of four is looking to relocate from California... we have a list of about half a dozen states that we are trying to narrow down. Can you tell me about your state? I look forward to hearing more about your city, and I would love to see some pictures too (especially of all seasons). Thank you in advance.

I think this has been discussed before, with a thread of very similar title. You might try doing a search for it.

Why do you want to locate?
Why Colorado?
What's wrong with California? I heard it has great weather and diversity.
How much money do you make?
What is your housing price range?
What line of work are you in?
Where are you going to work?
Can you post a picture of yourself?

Feeling your oats, Charles? You couldn't stand CA!
Colorado is one of the most beautiful states. We have the desert in the SW and the mountains in the middle, the plains to the east, and a clear sky for seeing stars at night (unless you are in Denver). Most Coloradans are nature lovers, whether its because they hug trees or like to hunt. There is so much public land in CO (1/3 the state) that you can almost always find a place to escape and get away from people, noise, traffic, etc. The jobs are good in Denver and Co Springs. We are the slimmest and healthiest state. The only thing lacking is a beach, but if we had that we would be more crowded than CA.

There is great diverisity, which I enjoy, and the weather is fair, though I would prefer living in an area with all four seasons, I want winters with snow, (I'm in Orange County). We want a slower pace, less congestion, and an area that doesn't focus so much on having material things. To answer the rest of your questions, upper-middle class income, not interested in buying a home in this market but rent would be $1400 or less, when I work it is usually in the lending market (currently working as a mother of 2). My husband works in the IT field...... I don't see a need to post a pic.
Why Colorado?... it's beautiful, housing is affordable (reasonable), there's work for my husband, has all 4 seasons....

Reason: Making the merge of two post into one more cohesive

What I love: mountains (of course), not too many people, weather is usually ideal and not too extreme (not too hot or cold, not too many violent tornadoes, no hurricanes, etc.), lots of cool places to see in the mountains, great ski scene
What I hate: ridiculous amounts of road constriction at inconvenient times during the day and the fact that we seem to spawn more bloodthirsty mass murderers than any other state with the possible exception of Texas or Virginia (something I voiced concern about in an earlier post)

Love:
Climbing, hiking, snowboarding, nightlife, big city feel but not overwhelming in denver, you don't feel like you are stuck in a steel and concrete cavern like chicago or ny, the laid back culture like my home town (san diego), sunny 50 degree days in dec. (like today)
Hate: Critical threads on CD who say its bland and Blah in colorado , native coloradoans hate for us migrators from cali, people driving slow in the fast lane!!!ugh, traffic going up to the mountains

I moved from OC to Denver a couple years ago and love it here. Although traffic in Denver can be a pain, it's not as bad as OC. People seem nicer, more genuine and I love being within 15 minutes of everything the city has to offer. It's a progressive (liberal) city that seems to be constantly moving ahead. My only gripe is I'm not big on snow/winter weather, but today it's warm enough outside for just a light jacket, not too bad considering there's snow on the ground. Summers are similar to OC - warm to hot afternoons, pleasant evenings perfect for sitting outside.
