Smile Move to CO

I am currently living in in Florida, I hate humidity here I can't stand the temp being 90 at 6am in the morning here. We are planing to move to Breckenridge,Co. or in the surrounding area, could any locals please give me some info about the jobs and the housing in the area. What the winters an summers are like. I hate traffic and lots of people We can't afford high expense places....we want to live somewhere between Breckenridge an Denver....so, here's what we would like to have: A quiet town but a town not far from city life, but not to close ether, but not to expensive and preferable with a awesome view of mountains, streams, rivers, lakes etc.....

You may want to rethink Breckenridge. It is a tourist town and is very crowded during prime season. Plus not very affordable from what I hear. The best place to get a great view of the mountains is at the base of them in the foothills. You might want to look more along the I25 corridor. There are plenty of smaller communities that may work better for you as far as price, view, and jobs go. If you live in Breckenridge you will be looking at tourist town jobs, like ski slopes, or waitress.

Smile Moving To Colorado! - Summit County

I am a gulf war Disabled Veteran and want to move back to Colorado. We are currently living in in Florida, and I can't take humidity here my wife and I can't stand the temp being 80 to 90 at 6am you walk out of the house go five feet to your car and you are already drenched in sweat. We are planing to move to summit co Colorado. Can anybody "please" give us some info about the jobs and the housing in the surrounding areas. What are the winters an summers like. We can't afford high expense places... So here's what we would like to have: A quiet town but a town not far from city life, but not to close ether, and preferable with a awesome view of the mountains, streams, rivers, lakes etc...... PS. you can email me at hunting102@excite.com

Thank you!!

Summit County (Frisco, Dillon, Breckenridge) has been growing like Topsy for the last few decades and I don't think you'll find any housing but rather expensive housing. As the population has mushroomed, service jobs have become more important all the time (except jobs in the ski areas where employees are paid partly in "psychic" dollars and lift ticket discounts since so many kids want to be in Summit during high season). The "close-far" from city life part of you post actually better describes some other expensive places -- Morrison or Idaho Springs (Denver) or Manitou Springs (Colo Springs). My advice: go online to Colorado newspaper site and read a ton of them, including letters to the editor and editorials. Good luck.

I am not sure what your idea of high expense is, but Summit County is probably in that category for most of us. You might look a Woodland Park outside of Colorado Springs. It's a very nice mountain town with beautiful surrounding areas to live. Generally a whole lot cheaper than just about anywhere in Summit Co. It's a 20 min drive down to the Springs.
Good luck on your search.
