Let's do this map again; everything south of the Arkansas River belonged to Mexico and everthing north of it belonged to the French. Then the Utes killed everything that moved for a while, then Kit Carson and Autobees (sp??) and the Bent bros came along, then

Well now, I think that about covers it!
Thanks Sheridan! Did I miss something? Anywho...

So Fullback, you go back to 1832! Wow! I'm honored. Then you'll know that your playground is a lot bigger than Texas and Colorado put together. It looked like this:

and by 1876, it looked like the following;

Now I'm a first generation Irish American, as my dad is from the old sod. So my US history starts at about 1957 on my dad's side, and my mom was born near a town called Towner. So you could call me a US American, and a Coloradoan at that, and I have maps.

Notice, at no time in modern history does Texas ever touch Colorado. Thank you, Oklahoma!

Oh, and thank you New Mexico! Thank you for the bedtime story Uncle Vegas. I'm gonna have a nice peaceful sleep now! Good night y'all!

Sorry to break the news to you, Texans, but Colorado already kicked your ass in the civil war. Under the command of John Chivington at the Battle of Glorieta Pass.

And with Norad, Buckley AFB, Air Force Academy, Fort Carson, and major facilities for contractors like Lockheed Martin where they make nuclear warheads, we could blow you off the map if we wanted to. Don't mess with Colorado.

AWESOME ANSWER !!!!! But it all boils down to who wrote the history books each of us were taught from. None of us were actually their and the view points of an Irishman, a Mexican and Native American differ as much now as they did when they were writing those history books. Based on my heritage, my money's still on Aztlán. And I don't believe that Colorado was EVER a part of Texas, but that because I'm a born and raised Coloradan............

Not that I like Texas at all, but the thought of unleashing 100s of cadet kids on that state is a pretty funny mental picture.

I'm thinking more along the lines of Charge of the Light Brigade with a bunch of overweight Lockheed Martin contractors.

Fullback it is encouraging to see that you know your history. It is sad that so many people do not know their history and will continue to repeat the mistakes that have occurred in the past.
You are a man of noble warrior ancestory and so am I. Your warrior ancestors and mine fought each other in Central Texas. My ancestor came to Texas late (1838) and fought as a member of the Republic of Texas Army (three enlistments) for survival in Waterloo, Texas on the Colorado River. I hope that as descendants of noble combatants there can be mutual respect between us.

i don't know how this got into "fixing one's problems" etc etc besides the aid of one bloggers arrogance.

maybe we need to re-read the post and distinguish that the words: "colorado vs. texas" were clearly in the title; not "dr. phil vs. oprah".

anybody who would like to help with the points in bold from the previous post please respond, anybody who would like to steer it off track please see myspace.com
Okay, then, if you're not interested in opinions on whether or not moving is a good idea for you, then this really belongs in the city vs. city forum.

(yes, I know Colorado and Texas are states and not cities, but the spirit is the same)
