1) Current City and State = Phoenix, AZ

2) Why do you want to leave = drought, polluted air, polluted water tables, backward thinking city government(s), crooked county government, lame state government, too many people (crowded roads and freeways - fifth largest city in the nation), the main gateway state for illegals, mis-use of water (it is the desert), photo radar, property taxes, always existing in the fastlane, garbage along the road/fences/overpasses, high insurance rates & too long & hot for this az native in the summer. It's turned "bad to worst" in the last 10 years.

3) Where In Colorado and Why = Arkansas Valley (property is purchased) - to stop existing and to start living. To be someplace where it's inhabitants know how to smile once in a great while.

4) 2nd and 3rd Place States = After traveling the U.S. my second would be Bend Oregon and third would be somewhere in NC

5) What’s currently holding you back from moving = Closing the business, real estate market to become a seller's market again (I'm not taking a hit on my properties in az), parents and then to find that "re-set button" and push it.

6) Anything else you want to tell us that we dont know? = Nope! That pretty much covers it!

KEEP IT SHORT, SWEET, AND TO THE POINT!!

4) 2nd and 3rd Place States = North/South Carolina, Tennessee

5) What’s currently holding you back from moving = Nothing, I'm coming July 08

Hey all, new user here...we found this forum while looking for information on moving to Colorado.

1) Current City and State = We live in Gaithersburg/Germantown, MD, and work/school in Washington, DC

2) Why do you want to leave = Exorbent housing costs, expensive area, traffic, long commutes, rat race, the attitude/coldness of this area... we just don't like it here.

3) Where In Colorado and Why = Not sure exactly where yet - we're looking both at Colorado Springs area and the Fort Collins/Boulder area. I'm in international affairs, which seems to have a greater number of jobs in Colorado Springs, but my husband is an electrical engineer focusing on power systems, particularly renewable energy, which seems to have more opportunity in the Fort Collins area. I think we'd be happy in either place.

4) 2nd and 3rd Place States = We used to have second and third choices, but I think we ruled them out. Either Colorado or we'll move back to Pennsylvania, where our families are - we really just want the hell out of DC!

5) What’s currently holding you back from moving = Waiting until I graduate from my graduate program in 2009. Unless I lose funding for next year, which makes moving this summer awfully tempting.

6) Anything else you want to tell us that we don't know? We're a recently married mid-twenties couple looking for a place that feels like home - we'd love to hear anything about living in Colorado, and have found the posts by Mikefrombackeast (I think that's his name) really helpful.

KEEP IT SHORT, SWEET, AND TO THE POINT!!

1) Current City and State = Fairfax, VA

2) Why do you want to leave = lol, you said keep it short! My husband and I HATE DC. Traffic, ridiculous housing prices ($500K for a shoddily built townhouse? WTH??), sitting in my car half my day, even though I live 18 miles from work, childcare prices, rude drivers, and my husband's job stinks (mine isn't much better). We recently found out our 6 month old has a medical condition that makes day care (even home day care) dangerous for him, so we have to live in an area where we can either afford for me to stay home, or afford to have a nanny in our house.

3) Where In Colorado and Why Woodland Park. Husband is working at Ft. Carson, I'll be staying home with the baby for the time being. I will probably pick up some work I can do from home (there is a ton in my field), and if not, I'll eventually work in COS. We wanted to be in the mountains, but a doable commute for my husband. We also will have specialist appointments in COS and Denver for our baby and needed to be within a reasonable drive of both. We are renting a house with the option to purchase later. We're getting twice the house in WP at just over half the price we're paying in Fairfax.

4) 2nd and 3rd Place States = Washington state, Oregon

5) What’s currently holding you back from moving= nothing- we're on our way, will be there by the end of the month!

6) Anything else you want to tell us that we don't know? We're so excited to be moving to CO, a state we've both loved and visited often. We want to live in a place where we can establish roots and raise our child with lots of outdoor activities, hiking, skiing, etc., and a reasonable cost of living. The DC 'burbs are none of the above!

1) Current City and State = Atlanta, GA

2) Why do you want to leave = trying to escape the monotony and complacency that has become my life, i've been wanting to move back to denver for while (i used to live in aurora when i was little and have always loved colorado), but never really had the means or resources to do so until now, i need a change of scenery.

3) Where In Colorado and Why = Capitol Hill or the Highlands are at the top of my list at the moment. I'm very much a city person and like having all the trendy/eclectic restaurants, bars and clubs nearby, but I like having the mountains in my backyard also.

4) 2nd and 3rd Place States = Haven't even thought of anywhere else. I've pretty much got my heart set on Denver.

5) What’s currently holding you back from moving = Not a damn thing! I'm done with school, single and don't have any kids! I just don't wanna leave my roommate hangin and I need to save money for moving expenses.

6) Anything else you want to tell us that we dont know? = That's about it!

Thumbs up Can't Wait To Move!!!

1) Current City and State = Leominster, MA

2) Why do you want to leave = I moved out here temporarily with my girlfriend while she is finishing up her last semester of undergrad. Now we're looking to move at the end of the summer (when our lease expires here).

3) Where In Colorado and Why = Boulder, or Boulder area

4) 2nd and 3rd Place States = Maybe northern central california....but we're pretty sure CO is the place for us.

5) What’s currently holding you back from moving = Just waiting for the lease on our place to run out. It's kind of expensive to break it early

6) Anything else you want to tell us that we dont know? = What's the job market and cost of living in the Boulder area compared to New England? Anyone who has some helpful info, please let me know! Thanks

1) Current City and State = Lancaster, PA

2) Why do you want to leave = Lancaster is a retirement community on 'roids, the entire county shuts down promptly at 8PM, if you're a college graduate and not married and/or a property owner, you better have a damn good excuse to fit into this bible-belt town. If you are married, when's the baby due? Young professionals do not move to Lancaster; the young people that are here have lived here nearly their entire lives and are very closed to the possibility of making new friends/meeting new people. Experiencing any nightlife requires you get in the car and drive. In SE PA there's a general culture of complaining about costs of... well pretty much anything, if you have reason to or not. Also tired of humid weather.

3) Where In Colorado and Why = Denver/Boulder (Boulder is a bit too in-your-face liberal politics for me)

4) 2nd and 3rd Place States = trying to decide between Boston, MA and Orange County, CA. More oppotunities currently exist in Orange, but I loved Boston when I visited.

5) What’s currently holding you back from moving = Deciding where to spend the next several years of my life, and being no Brad Pitt, the idea that Colorado's male:female ratio is too far out-of-whack.

6) Anything else you want to tell us that we dont know? = Colorado's #3 in my list for now. It's beautiful, offers many outdoor activities, and the people are the most outgoing and pleasant of anywhere I've been. However, all the information floating out there about a near utter lack of single educated females is giving me second thoughts. Also giving me second thoughts: when I visited people also came off generally as preferring to be loners and would rather go for a hike alone than get with a group of friends to watch the game.
