I agree that it is a vain attempt to keep people away from their backyard which they claim is their sovereign "rights" of nativity. I am getting very tired of this pedantic lecturing that permeates many of the JazzLover's posts.

I don't have a "hidden" agenda. There needs to be a healthy two-sided debate about whether the rampant growth and sprawl all across the West is good, desirable, sustainable, or necessary. I make no bones and make no apologies about my views on those issues. There are many posters on this forum who, by the very description of themselves, clearly have a vested interest in seeing the proliferation of growth and sprawl in Colorado--they profit from it. I don't "call them out" individually as having a "hidden" agenda to promote growth. They are entitled to their opinion, too.
I was attracted to this forum because it allows people to express how they really feel about places--and it allows people considering relocation to see something other than the "chamber of commerce" view of a place. I appreciate the Moderators of these forums allowing that expression to occur, within reasonable limits. If all that people thinking of relocation see on these forums is what is positive, comforting, reinforcing, and pollyannish--then these forums will have lost their usefulness.

IMO, anyone who makes a decision wether or not to live in Colorado based primarily on what they read in this forum, or any forum for that matter is a fool. Although I think the notion of sovereign rightsof nativity is a silly, ungrounded one, those who espouse it are welcome to do so. I'm learning to just laugh it off, becasue the only place I've ever encountered it is here on the forum. No one that I encounter in my day to day life has ever expressed such a silly notion.
We agree with jazzlover completely! There ARE good and bad points to any city/State. Just look at Southern California. There are definitely bad points to the area, but there sure is a lot of people who love living there and will say that. One statement said by the people who live there and love it is, "Why on earth why would anyone want to live "in" cold and snowy weather". If people only hear the "good" things about an area, they aren't hearing the complete truth. Let people in this Forum tell BOTH sides without getting ridiculed for it!!

TELL IT LIKE IT IS - Love it here!
1) Current Colorado locale: Denver
2) Why do you want to leave?: Wouldn't dream of it!
3) Where outside of Colorado and why: San Diego, they have a beach and if I was forced to dream.
4) 2nd and 3rd Place Choices: San Francisco or New York City, if I was forced to dream.
5) What’s currently holding you back from moving?: No plans, and will probably remain here - Love Denver!!!!
6) Anything else you want to tell us that we dont know? Why get in a line, just get out!

I love that! Don't go away mad. Just go away.
I also think it's funny when people rip on JL. He's right and they are wrong. I used to argue or disagree with him until I realized why I was doing it. I didn't like what he was writing. It was personal. But that really is what City-Data is all about. It's NOT the Chamber of Commerce. I think that JL is a chicken with his head cut off, but that's my opinion. We are entitled to our opinion even though other's don't like it. If we aren't careful and don't follow the rules, we get reprimanded. Most of my reprimands on here are due to defending my turf.
JL is very informed on the area, so I'd eat my Wheaties before I argue him. But on the other hand, He's a bit negative. If everything were to happen as JL envisions it, the world is going to implode in 6 months. The sky IS falling. I've fallen and I can't get up. I just can't figure why he sits up there in Wyoming and complains about Colorado. I listen to him though, from way down here in South of the Front-Range Colorado.
I, like DenverAztec love Colorado and have no desire to move out and have no desire to take it personal when others move here and regret their decision.
We don't have any filters and our windows are open all the time when it is warm enough. No more dust than anywhere else.
so what! Are you saying that my experience isn't real?

(Tough being a relative term) People want to move here. This is a beautiful area with a great economy and awesome amenities. That should make every native Coloradan proud to be in a state that is going places, not greedy and trying to scare people away. I am passionate about this because I transplanted myself here for all the good reasons. And I am not sorry for my contributions to the inevitable "water shortage" or "land beauty destruction" by new house construction. I am here to stay and there are more behind me.
I am sure George Bush would be proud of you.

The population of this country, and the world, is growing, not shrinking. The only states that lost population from 2005-2006 (the last year I found final numbers for) were Louisiana, Michigan, and Rhode Island, and Washington D.C. [A total of about 12,000 people fewer between Michigan, Rhode Island, and D.C.; almost 220,000 fewer lived in Louisiana in 2006 than 2005.] America's fastest growing states on Google Maps
The issues of greater population and more pressure on finite resources are not unique to Colorado. Where can you realistically suggest that people live?

Even though I disagree with many of jazzlover's comments, I'm going to side with jazzlover on this one! His rather curt comment ("you are wrong...") was in response to a poster who expressed a downright ignorant statement. That poster started off by saying he wasn't that familiar with water supplies in the west, but then immediately went on to contradict himself, pretending to be an expert on something he was clueless about. That's like somebody saying, "I've never studied medicine in my life, but here, let me offer you my diagnosis!" Jazzlover knows a wealth of information about water supplies, agriculture, the geography of the West Slope, the economy of Colorado, and Colorado highways. A discussion of the hydrology of the West is not a matter of opinion, where any opinion is just as good as any other-- like "what is your favorite burger joint?" Any such discussion must be backed up with scientific fact.

Yes, I, the ogre, have been beaten back under his bridge and have accepted his admonishment, but he is always hungry---Ah, he has cached some offals until the unwary poster tempts his appetite.
I have never met so many people that have allergies that developed when they moved to Colorado. For me, I think my problems are a combination of the high altitude, new allergens that I am not used to, the lack of humidity and the overall dust that is ever present. I put a whole house HEPA filter in my home and still every countertop is covered in a fine layer of dust. I have never experienced anything like this.
Try getting your ductwork cleaned out. But the catch is you got to make sure that every duct run gets cleaned.
