Sorry to break it to you op but if you don't not like the attitudes here you will not like most of Colorado. People here actually are great but they will give you the respect you earn.

One poster mentioned the "bootstrap" mentality and it is still alive and well in the west. Our state, and most other western states were settled by people who went out on a limb by moving west. There was no backup, no help, no anything. You either made it on your own, tried to make it back east, or became another corpse on the prairie. It's not that much different today.

Colorado does have good social programs, which can be researched at the Colorado department of human services website. As far as group homes, you will likely be out of luck. Most of those will likely already be filled and it's not like you can book a room in advance.

You can do it if you have the perseverance. I have a friend that constantly moves around the country with sometimes nothing more than a tent and backpack. When he gets to a new area he finds a campsite until he can get a job and then a place to live. He is also an extremely intelligent and resourceful person, and doesn't really accept words like can't. If you think you have that same ability then go for it.

Move along, OP. Move along.
This forum is a disgrace...

No wonder the kid started off talking crap about this place.

No young person should be turned away from moving within their own country.

Go where you want OP. Don't listen to these weirdos.

Western US people are very provincial. In a lot of ways they're barely even American, it's totally different out here.

Edit: Either that, or extremely American.

I'm from the West... I'd say the people on this thread are by far the unadventurous (very boring/preachy/old fartish) minority.

This dude can do whatever he wants. He can move, succeed, fail and learn however he wants, in his own country.

This kid just wants to move somewhere and reset.

This is not the political forum. Please remember which forum you're in when you post.

No one here has the power to turn him away, but why should we encourage this person, who clearly is in a situation of his own making, who blames everyone else for his lack of a job and lack of money, to come to our state and live off our taxes? I'm pretty liberal, but his mentality makes me angry. He can move wherever he wants but he shouldn't expect a hand out when he gets there.

He was asking about jobs...

Anyways glad this forum crap wasn't around when I was 23 (I had a great time listening to no one).
