Currently own a wrangler and am trying to decide if I'm going to need to sell it before coming out there. Don't want to, but also want something good for snow and the hills. Will be living anywhere from Fort Collins down to Denver. I think my jeep should be fine since it's a 4wd but ya never know! I have never driven in major snow...

Rarely get "major" snow along the I-25 corridor, though once in a while we'll get a big snow but it's usually out of here in a few days. Usually get 1-6 inches of the stuff; it's powdery, packs down a bit but isn't the slushy stuff back east. Just remember, 4-wheel drive is not 4-wheel stop; keep your distance, don't get cocky. Best to slow down a good deal from normal conditions.

The best car for Ft. Collins to Denver is the exact same best car for Chicago or Boston or Pittsburgh or Cleveland. Just buy a car you like. It isn't like you live in Aspen.

October, please read through the threads here about driving in the snow, especially the ones about tires. Also, read up on what kinds of things you should have in your car for winter travel. Sometimes (rarely) roads do get closed due to snow/ice and you should be well prepared if you are planning on commuting long distances.

Purchase a car YOU like, but learn how to drive it in the snow. I suggest getting winter tires, keep a safe distance in front of you, don't make sudden movements on the steering wheel or brake hard. Leave early to your destination and you should be fine. AWD or 4WD is recommended but not manditory.

According to Popular Mechanics, the most popular model in Colorado is the Nissan X-Terra, based on registrations. However, since their research was model specific and not make specific, I'd venture a guess that nearly anything in the Subaru and/or Jeep lineups are the most popular as a manufacturer.

To me you already have a great Colorado vehicle. The 4 wheel drive and ground clearance will help during any snow. We saw hundreds of Subaru's in Colorado Springs when we were there on vacation in August. I'd take either or
