Hello everyone! I am driving from LA to Ridgway for New Years. We are making a stop in Moab for a night and then driving to Ridgway the next morning. I have checked the UT and CO DOT websites and there weren't any major alerts.

Our planned route is I-15 thru CA, NV and part of Utah. Then I-70 from UT to CO. Then taking the 50/550 down to Ridgway. We will be driving a 2015 VW Jetta (FWD) and will have chains in the trunk. Should I invest in snow tires or will slow speed and cautious driving be enough? Also if anyone has any advice or warning about the drive, that info is much appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Forecast this week is sunshine temps in the 20s with clear nights temps below zero. HWY 50 will be dry, 550 will have some icy spots once you start climbing up by the state parks. Watch for deer and elk jumping out. Streets in Ridgway will be snow packed and slick. Have fun.

Don't know if you'll see this on your drive but it's snowing now. You can check conditions here:

And see what Ridgway looks like here:

Thanks jim9251. We're spending the night in Moab so hopefully the roads will be clear by tomorrow afternoon.
