No kidding? I've only lived here all my life, where are you from? And back then it was considered a weather phenom which was mentioned on local TV weather reports. I also know that Weld and Morgan counties have some of the largest feed lots in the state.

I like Greeley. We go up there for Rodeos fairly often. And the Stampede is almost as much fun as Frontier Days in Cheyenne.
For living, though, I prefer being closer to the foothills.

Interesting crime stats.
Some site called City-Data shows that the overall crime rate per capita is the same for: Boulder, Fort Collins, Greeley. Low.

So really "you get what you pay for?" No thanks.
Yeah also by "program by program" i dont mean ALL programs are better at the big schools, just on average. Some programs at NCU are probably better! Ive heard the nursing program is good. A certain type of kid will thrive there. Plus housing is cheap! And good cheap mexican food if she likes that...

I am a current UNC student. The school's background is in teaching, and was originally called Colorado State Normal School. Nursing and business are also very strong. It's definitely a great school overall: big enough to have good resources and small enough to not feel overwhelming. I've never felt in danger of being a victim of a crime.

This is spot on. Anywhere west of 8th ave and south of 10th st is generally fine.

Greeley feels a lot more laid back and less congested than Fort Collins or Loveland; I'm always glad to be back after traveling west. It only smells about 1 out of every 5 days, and usually lasts less than an hour. And there's definitely a lot more to eat than mexican .

Horrible place! Located on the brown and hellish plains where the wind blows 24/7 and the only activity seems to be industrial farming (not that I am an expert), but I hate when I have to go up there. There are days when the smell alone makes me faint -- someone told me those abbatoirs burn the blood when it gets like that. It just seems like one of those places where the "In Cold Blood" could have been shot. No doubt there are decent people there but why anyone not born and tied to the place would choose to live there is beyond me.

I go up that way sometimes to visit a friend that lives there and while it is not a city I would feel compelled to live in, it's not as hell on earth either.

Well, yes, I'll admit the surrounding areas aren't super pleasant. I do believe the city itself is a good city. This week is one of the biggest events of the year with the UNC/Greeley Jazz Festival, which attracts some of the country's best artists. UNC / Greeley Jazz Festival | University of Northern Colorado

I just don't get why so many people from Denver and other places in Colorado seem determined to hate on Greeley. Yes, it's not Boulder or Fort Collins, but we can't have a functioning economy without places like Greeley. The meat people eat has to come from somewhere. If I took a picture anywhere in most of Greeley, I doubt most people could even tell it apart from the "nicer" cities of Northern Colorado.

We do have the Poudre River trail that goes from Greeley almost all the way to I-25. Its surroundings are very natural, no industrial farms.
