We will be heading to Denver from Texas, March 14 for our nieces Spring Break. We are really wanting them to see snow. Does it typically snow in mid-March? I know they will be snow in the mountains but seeing snow around downtown Denver would be a bonus. Thanks!

March is the snowiest month here. Check the CDOT web page for road information.

March is typically our snowiest month, but you aren't going to know until the week before. Could be 65 and sunny or could be snowing.

Where would a nice day trip be to one of the mountains where there would be an easy lake to get to or at least see from a road. (weather permitting)

Of 17 historic Denver blizzards, 5 occurred in March. The most recent in 2013 was 2nd worst. So be prepared.

Of course it could also be shirt sleeve weather.

March is the snowiest month around Denver, and it can be warm at times. Be prepared for fluctuations in the weather pattern, bring warm clothes such as a coat, gloves, beanie, snow boots and long sleeve shirts.

Summit County and Lake Dillon or Grand Lake in Grand County are easy drives provided you don't do this during weekend rush hour.
