Looking for route or suggestions for week long (offroad,camping,flyfishing) adventure home base will be our cabin (Park Co. near Jefferson) We will be traveling in well kitted Landrover and Jeep Rubicon looking to visit,camp,flyfish different area every day for 7 days thinking heading toward Buena Vista and Leadville first day or so and then west or southwest Crested Butte Ridgeway Ouray a week probably not enough time but all we have one would wonder why leave (Southpark area)? everything we want to do is there but we need to branch and expand our footprint need some(suggestions) on other cool places I haven't even thought of

Jefferson, to BV, to Cottonwood Pass (or Tin Cup- Hancock Pass), to Taylor Park, to Crested Butte, to The West Elks, Crystal river/Marble, to Panoia, to Delta and 550 into Ouray. Cold beer in the Hot Springs. Happy motoring.

I just cut and paste this into itenerary as is! Plan is to start off (guided trip on the Colorado River) then take off across rest of state (follow your route) to Ridgeway/Ouray and do another guided trip on the Gunnison offroad-Tin Cup-Hancock hang out camp fish Crested Butte sounds like a plan thanks Lug Nuts

The aspen colony near Kebler Pass in the West Elks is supposed to be one of the largest organisms in the world:

Aspen Grove Is Largest Living Organism in the U.S.

Worth seeing in the fall for sure.

trip getting better all the time one detail I left out was when (time of year) we are doing last week of August into Labor day weekend should be great time(to be roaming across the rockies) thanks again

If you're starting in Park County, maybe you want to take Mosquito Pass over to Leadville, and then down to BV.
That'll get you pumped for the week.

+1 for Mosquito, looks different going from east to west

Last w/e in August will be pre-peak for fall colors but the quakies will just be starting to turn at higher elevations.

You should also put the wild flower bloom near Crusty Butt on your bucket list:
