Hello Everyone,

Me and my Fiance are currently in New York and are interested in Colorado.

We have just started our research, so bear with me.

Working: I'm going to be starting a career in Real Estate and she is going to be opening up a salon, so any big city is where we would prefer to work.

Living: We'd like to raise a family in a suburb outside of a city where we can have:

- A big yard (a few acres)
- house with (4 bedroom, 3 bathroom)
- Good schools & Neighborhood where our kids could play outside without worrying about busy roads

This seems very vague, but us being from New York we don't know a city/suburb combo in Colorado, so we are open to anywhere in the state and with further our research with what you suggest.

Thank you!

Have you visited Colorado yet or do you just think you might want to move here? If you haven't been here yet, come visit for a week, drive around and see if it still appeals to you.

A career in Real Estate doing what?

You spend a lot of money in your post - opening a salon, a 4 bedroom house on a few acres.

You could live anywhere along the Front Range.

I'd suggest you check out Parker, Evergreen, outside Castle Rock, Monument and Black Forest. See what you like / dislike about them from reading other threads & the internet and using Google maps street view for a quick virtual tour. Give a housing budget. A few acres will cost different amounts depending on how far outside Denver or Colorado Springs you are willing to live and commute from. Are you firm on having a few acres or would you compromise on a 1/4 to 1/2 acre lot? If you insist on a few acres your choice will be much narrower.

Are you picturing a lush, green, east coast lawn on your several acres? You should come visit.

A friend from Pittsburgh was just in town for work and told me during his next visit he was going to bring me this stuff called "green grass" that they have in Pennsylvania. I told him he should also bring that stuff they have called "water".

If you are planning on buying a home and having a mortgage, be sure to talk to a mortgage company before you go too far. New jobs and new careers will make getting a mortgage difficult.

Definitely agree with the others above, please visit before even considering a move here. The forum has some great advice and accuracies; but at the same time it has many sort of inaccuracies that are more opinion based. Take a couple of trips here if possible before researching too much.

Ha! I love it...my friend from Pitt who just left told me he was going to bring trees with him because he couldn't believe how brown everything was. This is coming from someone who believed Denver was on the side of a mountain.

Pittsburgh's pretty green. (I grew up there.) You guys should tell your friends that it's greener this summer than it usually is!
