Reminds me of a joke: "I'll never get married again, I'll just find a women I hate and give her a house."

I thought I saw Johnny Carson say that on his show about 15+ years ago....
But we're way off topic, so let's get back on the topic of mag chloride....
Thank you....

& the state of your State?
So, no one likes their car being needlessly ruined. Good. Even if we apparently disagree on whether people should learn to drive in snow or not.
But is it just me, or hasn't anyone else noticed all the dead and dying trees directly along the roadsides?

Magnesium Chloride & Your Environment
It isn't just roadside trees that suffer. Fish populations in streams area also affected. The spring runoff will carry a lot of that salt into rivers, lakes, and reservoirs.

MgCl dissipates very rapidly in water...a 2-day half-life is pretty short as chemicals go. There has been no evidence of adverse impact to fish or other wildlife.
The nitrate runoff from fertilized cropland is far and away more trouble than this.

I think having somone else slide into your car on an untreated icy road would qualify as having it "needlessly ruined." Surface friction control is not "needless." I'm sure the state and county would love to not need to spend a dime on road plowing and deicing. But it's "needed."
There's lots of dead and dying vegetation along the roadsides in AZ, too.

Airport parking/taxi/runway surfaces are routinely treated with chemical de-icing agents, and corrosion control (i.e. wash) is necessary for them too.
