So..we're driving from the east coast to Colorado and I'm moving to Breckenridge the third week in May. I see that it's still winter there. I'm looking at a forecast for snow accumulation and freezing temps for the last week in April. I assume this is normal and I should dig out the winter stuff I put away last month? It's supposed to be 85 here on Saturday. My friends think I'm nuts.

It is normal, but this time of year is highly variable. It could just as well be 80. So I wouldn't put your winter gear so far away that you can't get to it easily. At the very least, freezing temps at night in Breckenridge are likely so you'll at least need a decent jacket.

Snow is even forecasted Saturday into Sunday in Pueblo with highs in the 30's and lows in the 20's.

Winter is never finished up here until May. Tuesday night we got a half inch of hail (with thunder) and a half inch of snow on top of that. We've had flurries on and off yesterday and today but no real accumulation yet. Crazy sun keeps popping out. Forecast says we could get a foot of snow tomorrow... typical April.

I've been snowed on in Breck in the middle of June. And the nights are cool all through summer. So, yes, bring coats.

Oh yeah, I'm bringing coats, hat, gloves, umbrella and boots..I have many boots. I'll be working outdoors come June and I know that in the summer it rains often in the afternoon. And yeah, snow too. Life at elevation. I'm actually looking forward to it.

My daughter is coming with me and moving to Boulder and asked me what to expect for the weather in the mountains. I said: "Expect anything but most of all, expect the unexpected. But one thing you can count on is that whatever it is at one point, it'll change in a few minutes."

Coloradans tend not to use umbrellas.
