I know, right? It's almost as if both major parties are big tents and aren't monolithic.

I think it's also important to point out that unless I misread this bill, it was specific to medical.

Jeff Sessions is a dinosaur that should not be given the AG positition. With that said; even if he were to obtain a position in the Trump administration, I don't think he could stop the momentum marijuana is having at this point. When CA legalized it was game over for prohibition. If it's left up to the states, then simply the south and middle America will maintain its illegality for a while. Then slowly the Midwest will legalize, and it may be 100 years, but the south will follow suit as well.

Agree I do wonder which state will be last to legalize marijuana if the federal government doesn't? I would think it would probably be either Alabama, Mississippi or Kansas.

Utah. They still don't have any legal gambling. One of the only states left without a casino.

You may be right. Makes sense though, when you consider that Utah is populated with so many mormons. Mormons don't even believe in consuming caffeine, much less alcohol. I can see how marijuana would be hard to accept.

I think your broad brushed characterization of southerners and their perrogatives is not based in reality...

Mormons can actually consume caffeine (i.e. in Coke products, etc.). They just aren't supposed to drink tea or coffee. Most people assume that it's because of the caffeine, but that's not the case.

So if not caffeine, why not?
