And keep in mind that with the advent of Trump Care, things may change in the twinkling of an eye.

Let's hope it changes for the better! (unlikely with anyone in WA or DEN (capitals) involved)

A(?) CA removed 4 of my 'affordable options'. Premiums went from $380 / month to $1700 / month (currently $2200 / month should we be able to afford that... so we are without (for the first time in 46+ yrs of working and paying SS)

We join the other 15m 'medical tourists' / yr (Many from Europe / single payer systems)

$2200/ month for 2 adults between age 55 and 65, rural location (Location matters A LOT!!! in A(?)CA) Colorado rural locations are insanely expensive.

Medical Tourism Statistics & Facts | Patients Beyond Borders

We use Thailand, Malaysia, Canada, MEX.

Soon to add SA (South America)

USA is NOT an option, count on it. We also use one of the USA 'non-insurance' HC cost sharing networks (Legal alternatives to A(?)CA)

I'm in LaPlata County so it is extremely rural here. I pay $2,000/mo for my wife & I since I'm 63 & she's 62. Looks like if the AHCA passes & is signed into law, we're screwed. If they screw up medicare too, we'll be doubly screwed! More American exceptionalism at work. We have an exceptionally expensive & screwed up health care system.

This has been my solution since 2017's rate hikes as well, although I've yet to try actually using it for anything so I can't rate it on factors other than it's affordable monthly payment. StealthRabbit, have you had much success with your cost sharing network?

I will say, as someone who supported the ACA when it was passed, I don't like 'cheating the system' this way. I understand the logic behind the individual mandate, but at the same time I have to do what's financially responsible for myself. Seeing as how my money is still going towards helping others who actually have real medical needs, I don't feel too guilty about it.
