What is the current Salary needed to live somewhat comfortably on the front Range ? about from FT. Collins to Colorado Springs ? Example to rent two bd apt, to rent a a house , car payment , food , utilities etc. I read a few yrs ago it was 58 K . What is it now in your opinion . ? I am doing research for a proposal to my HR dept. due to an upcoming Merger. I am not trolling here , I know I am not always serious and Moderators thanks for putting up with me.

I think you should still be fine with 58 k personally. I think in Colorado Springs a lot of people do just fine on considerably less - like 45k. But if someone is burdened with a lot of debt that is going to make a big difference.

It really depends on your life.

Do you have debt?
What do you want for housing?
Monthly expenses?
Kids?
etc.

This. You've given us way too many variables. We need to know a little more about your financial/familial situation before we can answer accurately.

A useful tool for this kind of thing may be found here: Cost of Living Calculator - Cost of Living Comparison Index Tool . There are other similar calculators out there.

My assumption would be that any such comparison will be a bit out of date as housing prices continue to climb along the Front Range at inordinate rates. Nevertheless, it is better than nothing.

Then you'd probably be okay on the above posted figure - or more. 😀

I wouldn't expect a house depending on where you'll be with that salary is you're renting, but at least a 2 Bedroom apartment. Just expect anywhere from $1300 low end to $1800+ for a more trendy one.

Pueblo - Colorado Springs you could probably do it on less, Denver & further North you'd want at least that most likely.

ok thanks for the input . I Have used COL calculation web sites also. there seems to be a variation from site to site. I am estimating 27 to 28 an hour or 58 K a yr gross salary as a " comfortable " income.

Average home sale price in 2017 for Fort Collins, Timnath and Wellington is predicted to be $395,000 at a 5.7% increase. In Loveland and Berthoud it’s forecasted to be $338,000 (+5.3%), $265,000 for Greeley and Evans (+4.8%), $306,849 in Wellington (+10.4%), and $408,000 in Windsor and Severance (+4.5%).

seems Northern Colorado is growing and I expect rental prices will follow ....

the same with Colorado Springs rentals .

Colorado Springs average home price hit an all time record in April of $311,830. The median also hit an all time high of $275,000. Half of the homes sold in April were under contract in less than 5 days.

So I am thinking a lateral transfer form Austin or San Diego would be some what even.....
