2024?

Hmmmmm. At my age, I've quit buying green bananas.

Hope the weather holds out.

"We paid $950 for a room that normally goes for $35."

"How was the room?"

"Never made it to the room. Was stuck in traffic during the actual 2.5 minutes of the eclipse."

"How was the eclipse?"

"Well it was raining, so it was a little darker. Not as dark as it would have been if we could have reached our motel."

"Bummer."

"Totally."

Default Solar Eclipse near Colorado on Aug 21

Get ready for the coming 11:45 AM, Aug 21 solar eclipse. In Denver, we'll get about a 90% shadow. If you already have planned to travel to Casper, Wy you'll get 100%. By now, it's too late to find a room there. Also, expect I-25 to Wyoming to become a parking lot on that morning.

Look for details here https://eclipse.aas.org/eclipse-america/when-where

One important fact. Don't expect normal sunglasses to protect your eyes from the Sun's rays; get a pair of solar viewers verified to be compliant with the ISO 12312-2 international safety standard for such products.

Evidently, you can buy them at Wal-Mart. Beware of fakes sold on the internet.

Viewers compliant with that spec will block 99.9% compared to a regular sunglass blockage of about 50%

I don't know about the whole state, but at the Pikes Peak Library District, you can show your card to get a free pair of eclipse glasses.

We made our hotel reservation in Worland a year ago. Managed to get decent rates. Also, we plan to drive up two days before the eclipse, with a full tank of gas and a cooler full of food and water.

All this for two minutes of totality!

To each their own, but I have no interest in making any effort for any eclipse. I'll just check out non-eyeburning pics on the internet for 30 seconds... maybe.

Just watch it from wherever you're at, but do go to the Lowe's and get the glasses.
