House hunting trip in Castle Rock, CO
Hello. We are moving to Castle Rock from Wisconsin. Our date is flexible which makes it easy to find the perfect spot. We have lived in NC, FL, TX, IL and PA. We have worked for ourselves (from home) for the last four years and are ready to choose where we want to live! Everything that we see about Castle Rock seems to meet up with our family needs and wants.
We are going to look at a home in Plum Creek Golf Club Community and also a few other communities. I wanted to find out which neighborhoods are the most desirable or premier? We love golf, so that would be a plus.
Is there a neighborhood that we should stay away from?
Also, what side of town do most people want to live in?
Thank you so much for your help!
Diane

What are those needs and wants (besides golf)?
Price Range?
Kids? Ages?

House Hunting trip in Castle Rock, CO
We have a 13 year old and a 5 year old... our price range is open.... We can afford between 400K-700K. I love swimming in the summer. All of us golf. Our young son likes gymnastics and little league. Our 13 year old is a decent guitar player (there is a music store in Castle Rock that offers lessons). He also loves inline skating (inline hockey) Castle Rock has this as well.
We like skiing/ snowboarding on the weekends.
Since my husband and I work from home we like to get out of the house and have lunch together in town (without kids) a few days per week.
We love camping and most outdoor activities. One thing we love about the Front Range area in general is days of sunshine... my husband says he is a "solar panel" and gets his energy from the sun. Colorado is one of the few states that offers mild winter weather (compared to Wisconsin) four seasons, and plenty of sunshine.
We are a friendly family and get along with most everyone.
Hope this helps.... and I appreciate yours!

That sounds great.
Castle Rock gives me a good impression. We live about 20 minutes south of there and travel to the pools in Castle Rock and Parker in summer. If I didn't work east of Colorado Springs, I would have looked hard at Castle Rock, Lone Tree, and Parker. I like the "in betweenness" of Castle Rock, in between Colorado Springs and Denver.
I don't think you can golf 12 months out of the year there, maybe on some really good (rare) years I'd guess. Denver would probably have a slightly longer golf season.

Hi, Diane! Plum Creek area is nice. We looked there too, but settled on the Meadows instead. I loved Plum Creek, but got nervous about sending my kids to South Street Elementary. If you google Douglas County School District you can search the schools past reports. It's ranked the lowest amongst all the town schools.
You might also want to check out Pradera in Parker. It's actually between Castle Rock and Parker. They have homes in your price range, bigger lots and it's a golf course community.
Hope this helps!

Does anyone know why that school does worse than the rest of the district?
