I'm trying to decide whether to buy an Epic Local pass or a Rocky Mountain pass. I've only skied Winter Park (good skiing but crowded and too many kids), Aspen (too far and too crowded), Snowmass (perfect if it were closer) and Beaver Creek (great skiing but BORING). What ski area is most comparable to Snowmass that is still doable without a 4 hour drive? I'd also prefer to have the option of some nightlife which Winter Park definitely doesn't have. It seems like Breckenridge may be a good option but is it as crowded as Winter Park?

Breck is more crowded than Winter Park.

Most like Snomass and under 4 hours? Steamboat maybe but that's 3 hours.

I like Loveland, but there is no town and it sounds like you're looking for that. It's also a much smaller mountain. Great skiing though.

Vail maybe, but very crowded as well, especially if you think Aspen is crowded. Aspen is less crowded than anything close to Denver on the Epic Pass.

Whistler / Blackcomb! 3hrs via air (Go while USD is strong). Can always do CO and UT WTSHTF

Tough to beat Snowmass (within 4hrs )

Winter Park is the least crowded one IMO.
Copper isn't bad if you stick to east village, it's also next to Frisco for night life.

Eldora is boring

Loveland gets crowded but it's a fun little resort
Same with Abasin

Keystone, Breck, etc are really crowded.

Steamboat sounds like something you'd like. Too far for me, otherwise I'd go there all the time!

Dude is looking for the place to get his season pass, not for a ski vacation.....but if you do find yourself at Whistler, make sure it's not raining!

I'm bummed about Breck, figured it would be a good compromise. Unfortunately, Copper isn't included in the Epic Local but it does include 10 days at Vail / Beaver Creek. I suppose if I took advantage of those plus try for some midweek days at Breck it would be a good deal vs. just going mainly to Winter Park and a few days in Steamboat on the RMSP.
