I'm trying to organize a reunion over a weekend in Colorado for around 20-25 people including children.

I've never been to a retreat center before, but ideally we'd like to rent 2 nights in a pretty location somewhere not too far from from one of the major airports (less than a couple hours drive), and somewhere to have either the place to ourselves or at least an area to ourselves..

If anyone has info on this, like recommendations, websites, personal experiences, etc, I'd appreciate it very much!

How much lead time? On a weekend? A lot of places will likely be booked for next month or two.

How much are you planning / willing to spend? Is a religious or spiritual center an acceptable location or do you want a purely secular atmosphere?

Within 10 miles of a resort town or ok to be "out there"?

Prefer a few big lodgings to share or lots of separate ones?

There's a YMCA facility near Estes Park that is very popular for family reunions.

When would this retreat/reunion take place?
I also thought of the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park just outside Rocky Mountain National Park. There is another one on the west side - Snow Mountain Ranch - near Winter Park.

Those places book up way in advance so if it is for this year you may be out of luck.

Peaceful Valley northwest of Boulder could be another possibility.

We had a family reunion at a great place called The Hideaway just north of Colorado Springs. I would highly recommend it!

For a diverse family (different interests) there are lots of choices in Estes Park (Retreats + guest ranches (horses and such)+ events / many choices of local activities) ~ 1.5 hrs to DEN

Look near Allenspark (close enough to Estes and lots of camps / retreat centers)

Yes, Glen Eyrie is fantastic if you want quiet / relaxing and have an 'older' crowd' / not wanting to run back and forth to town everyday. Glen Eyrie is definitely a spiffy 'retreat' . (and near COS)

This. Odds are really against you getting anything really decent booked between now and October. I help organize a couple of group outings for some different groups I associate with and we typically are placing reservations in Jan-Feb for activities taking place in Jul-Aug time frame. Even some of the smaller 2 family trips we make require reservations several months in advance for some of the places we go, but I will admit they are quite popular so the more remote and less popular places you look at may be able to provide some options for you.

You might be able to book camping spots at a state park or other campground for October but may depend on which one and how late into October as camping gets iffy that time of year and lots of places shut down for the season around then.
