Two girlfriends are encouraging us to spend more time with them out in their respective towns - Breckenridge and Winter Park. So it's become a kind of competition on which road(s) are better and worse, to get our attentions. This last trip we did both, but it was...summer!

I've heard many people complain about the winter traffic problems both through the Eisenhower Tunnel AND at the Berthoud Pass.

Since googlemaps says there's only 13 minutes difference from the Denver Airport to either Breck or Winter Park, the operative issues become both the tunnel and the pass.

Which is predictably worse, on more occasions? The tunnel doesn't bother me one whit in the summer, and I thought parts of US-40 required quite a bit of concentration and some stress even in the summer.

Do you guys out in Colorado have a rule of thumb about these two particular highways/road features?

100% dependent on the micro weather for that day.
100% dependent on the traffic pattern for that day.
Go for the cutest one.

From Jan to Mar you can take the Ski Train direct to Winter Park from Union Station, and the new A-line from DIA to Union Station

It's all about traffic/accidents/storms (or avalanches in the case of Berthod) that day.
