I'm considering working at the Federal Prison in Florence, and taking the first initial steps at researching this option. I would like to live a reasonable distance away, as I may be called on occasion to see an inmate (as an emergency), and don't want a long commute.

I am single without a family currently, but involved in a long term relationship which may rise to the next level over the next few years, not sure. I'm looking for a safe place to live that has city amenities, and good fitness/sports selection, as I tend to train on most days, and currently practice golf frequently.

Where would you recommend I locate? Thanks.

Dean.

I think you should at least consider Florence itself, although it may be a bit small. Otherwise, I agree with TCHP.

If you don't want to live in Florence I would recommend pueblo west as the drive to Florence is not far and on your days off to get to the city of Pueblo for shoping it's not far either.

Pueblo West is fairly popular. I have a family member that works at the nearby prison and made the move to Pueblo West. Lots of affordable houses and decent commute + access to amenities. She moved there from Canon City and said she prefers Pueblo West personally.

The weird thing about Pueblo west is that it looks like some areas around El Paso ,Tx , I mean it looks like a desert , I guess it is just at a higher elevation. Alpine desert vs Chihuahuan desert ...just applied for a job In Pueblo myself , getting restless ...

Pueblo is technically a step climate which means a step above a desert but we are more a desert to be honest.

My friend, Ted Kaczynski, tells me that he gets free room & board in Florence.
You might talk with him.

I swim laps every other day during the week. Is there a facility with an indoor pool in Canon City or Pueblo West? Thanks.

Dean.
