If you're looking for a gay community of sorts, you won't find very active communities outside of the Denver metro area, but I also don't think you will have a problem fitting in or being accepted most anywhere you go. We do not have children, so I can't comment on the schools.

Of greater concern, I'd keep an eye on COS, housing and jobs. Are you in fields, where you can transfer easily? Also, do you have experience with winter weather?

I second that. Have you had much experience with Westcliffe? We just bought a cabin down there and wondering.

the cap hill neighborhood in denver is the old gay bro. Denver gay house holds have long assimilated into every area of the city but the best accepting schools might be in that area.

over all colorado schools are not that great. finding a functional school may be the larger issue for you. best of luck.

you might contact the lgbt center for more info
