So, I am just here killing some time at work...So, the other day, went up by 11 reservoir. never caught a trout before!

So, decided to with my friend.....and ended up hooking a 20in + trout. Holy!!! I was not prepare for that fight. Keep in mind, I have never felt a fight from trout; only bass and panfish

anyhow, it was impossible to reel in that fish, it just kept out-doing me and stripping all my fly line.

Anyhow, finally got the fish near the boat, and we were getting ready to net it for a nice picture.......and it got away

anyhow, just pretty stoked, for by first trout ever, it was above 20in (from what my friend was telling me)

I mean, he was larger than the net, but woooo that fight! I am just pissed I was not able to take a picture

That's really cool! I was at a reservoir near Pikes Peak and they were biting as fast as you could cast it in!! I never thought fishing in CO was fun until that happened.

I heard Blue Mesa Reservoir has huge lake trout, so maybe you caught one of those at 11 mile?

eh im not sure it was colorful though. I dont keep it regardless to let others have a fair game, esp something that big.

I know they were at the shallow by this time. So we were just casting onto the edge and bringing it in! I just wish for my first fish it was a bit lighter and not as heavy since I had no experience on what to do :/

I practice catch and eat. But a trout that big I would have taken a photo and released it since those are not that tasty. There's always next time buddy.

Back in the summers of 2004 and 2005, when living in Parker, we went to Chatfield Reservoir and caught some nice Rainbows in 40 ft of water in the No Wake area on. We were using earthworms from Walmart and those Bow’s loved them. We caught one nice Brown Trout as well. We were in our 1989 Invader Bowrider, with Fishfinder on and using rod holders installed on the boat.

Currently living in northeastern Florida and can’t wait to move back to fishing in freshwater “Bow Heaven”. Still have all our freshwater fishing gear.
