Thanks to HH for the suggestion, which I only now just saw (as I sit in Montrose's Subaru getting my busted window replaced). We did take HH's route, and amazingly passed Pike's Peak without being able to see it for the weather! But it cleared near Monarch Pass, no ice, and got really beautiful. Got into Ridgway at 6p Saturday and had a great end-of-trip dinner and toast to the trip at O'Brien's in Ouray.

I am stunned to be living in Ridgway- it feels so familiar from my visits, and my house is a smaller version of what I had built in MA- and I am still stunned AND PLEASED with being retired and off night shifts.

Gonna go eat at Starvin Arvin's again today. Great chicken fried steak, right HH?

Well, the new window didn't fit, so back goes the plastic.

I am looking forward to my stuff arriving on Friday, not because I'm a good cook ! but so I can actually go to a grocery store and stop eating takeout with a plastic spoon. Also want my internet at home, probably Friday.

Fantastic weather. Not yet acclimatized to altitude.

This hazardous weather outlook is for northeast and north central
Colorado.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight

No hazardous weather is expected.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday

A weak upper level system will bring gusty winds and isolated
showers to the area Thursday. Light snow will be possible but
confined to the higher foothills and mountains. For the weekend,
it will be warm with a slight chance for showers and thunderstorms
during the afternoon and evening hours, mainly over the
mountains.

Well, this will most likely be the last post for this season, but a weird front is going to roll through Colorado tonight. Was on the phone with my friend from west of Salt Lake and rain, sleet, hail and snow is rolling through that area and is headed east. At the same time the Weather Channel is calling for some nasty windy winds (most likely tornadoes) at the Oklahoma/Kansas border. In Mesa County the wind has been blowing 15 to 20 mph since sunrise, and gusts to 35 mph. Ugh.
