We often have the elk come down into Loveland, especially in late winter. They follow the Big Thompson down and camp out in the areas along the river and the last two years have come up into the old town area and into our yard to lounge and feast.

As far as "legal pot", not everyone is into smoking pot, and, from what I understand, pot isn't everywhere on The Front Range. Meaning, pot seems to be more in Denver and the metro area, perhaps the Springs, but not nearly as much in Larimer County.

"Allure of the Rockies".........that has to be more for snow skiing than anything else. When we lived there, we went to RMNP for the Elk "rut", to view Fall colors and drove up to the Summit. Also made some trips to Black Hawk for casino play.
I don't know where you get the idea that pot is any less prevalent in Larimer county, there are at least 15 dispensaries in Larimer county alone.

There are none in Loveland, but several in Fort Collins and one or maybe two in Berthoud.

I get it from what people who live in Loveland have told me. Anyway, pot isn’t everywhere. A person won’t drive into the Loveland city limits and immediately smell pot in the air. Colorado can’t be full of people getting high all the time. Just like Florida isn’t full of alligators just waiting outside doors to eat someone.

It's been my experience, that if one is not smoking or buying it, one wouldn't really know it was around.

Exactly what I’ve read and heard. Just like gators aren’t on every corner here, ready to eat people. However, what is true is about how bad the heat combined with humidity is. It can be (actually, IS)!!

You’re going to be very surprised if that’s your expectation. Summer traffic to and from the mountains easily rivals winters traffic. There is a lot more to do in the mountains than just go skiing. Think hiking, fishing, camping, etc... it’s why people live here.

We donít snow ski. Only time we went into the mountains during the winter time was to go to Black Hawk casinoís (if even then). Generally, we didnít go until the ďrutĒ happened. All of our fishing was done on Chatfield Reservoir.

It's funny to see the term "snow ski," as if there's another kind of skiing. But then I noticed you are in FL, so it makes sense. Even so, I'd call the two activities skiing (snow implied) and waterskiing.

OTOH, there's snowboarding and waterboarding, the latter with a completely different meaning
