Hi, New here, and I am trying to find a river to kayak this summer. I have only been kayaking a few times so I am not wanting something crazy like a class IV or V. I am more comfortable with class II and III. I also do not own my own kayak, so I would need to find a place that would rent a tandem kayak for an overnight trip. I would also be interested in a place that would rent Mountain bikes for overnight trips as well. And some good hiking ideas that allows primitive camping. I am not sure if this is a good place to ask, but thought I would give it a shot. Thank you!

Your best bet close to Denver is Deckers on the South Platte.

Mountain Buzz is the local kayaker forum.

For an overnight trip, there are some sections on the Upper Colorado that are mellow. Try Pumphouse: https://www.americanwhitewater.org/c...detail/id/379/

If you'd consider the Durango area, call or message a kayak shop. There are probably suitable sections / times on the Dolores river or maybe San Juan. Animas gets the most traffic. Plenty of mountain biking and primitive camping option around.

Maybe buy guidebook or check one out of library.

I know a lot of people who kayak the Arkansas below the Lake Pueblo dam.... If you're interested in mountain biking, there are trails there - or you can go to the mountain biking mecca of Salida which also has the Arkansas - just be careful of season - high water season is usually early June but who knows this year....

Both Buena Vista and Salida have whitewater parks with a lot of calm water. CKS Main Street in BV has kayak rentals and I believe that they also have classes.
