Lots do. The ski towns are awesome in the summer. Many have built in mountain activities for summer time like zip lines, mountain bike trails, etc.

We often use ski lodges during summer.

At times we have been the ONLY person in the entire joint. The manager said "Pick your room, leave a message on the desk which one you used, Refrig is stocked, BBQ ready, enjoy your stay" (As the manger left and went home ~ 5pm). Has happened several times for us (not planned, just dropped in). We prefer NON trendy spots (remote towns / lodges in pretty locations),

Most places will 'advertise' and keep staff and PRICES pretty high in summer. Do schedule around music and art fests (they will fill the places up during summers). (Remote lodges do not have that issue)

During winters... we stay at 'summer-only' dude ranches / church camps. Usually get a staff cabin for ~$20 - $40 / night. Often only 20 -30 minutes to trendy slops and towns.

Summer in mountain resort towns use to be the best kept secret but not any more. It's a great time to visit, no bugs or humidity, sometimes an afternoon thunder storm, warm sunny days and cool nights. Lots to do in Breck, Vail, Steamboat, Aspen, Crested Butte, Telluride... Plenty of places to pick from and generally and endless supply of fun things to do.

All pros for me and no cons, summer is my favorite time in the mountains.

Go to Crested Butte in early July for beautiful wild flowers. Just amazing!
