FINAL Bull Draw Fire Update Date: Sunday, September 30, 2018
Acres: 36,549 acres as of September 23 at 1800
Containment: 95%
Personnel: 21

Horse Fire Pagosa Springs - The fire remains at 705 acres and is now 70% contained. There are interior pockets of snags which continue to burn and produce some smoke. The weather continues to be unseasonably hot and dry. The Horse Fire area closure remains in place until further notice.

Cache Creek Fire area closure to be lifted on Friday
RIFLE, Colo. - Effective at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 21, the Rifle Ranger District of the White River National Forest will lift the Cache Creek Fire emergency area closure and reopen popular hunting areas and trails. Much of the burned area has cooled, but there is still minimal fire activity in the vicinity of the Cache Creek and Battlement Creek drainages.
The Cache Creek Fire is 55% contained, and it continues to smolder in interior fuels. The fire will remain at current containment due to steep, inaccessible terrain located on the southern portion of the fire. The fire continues to be monitored by local fire managers.

Silver Creek Fire Current Situation: Yesterday’s weather helped to moderate fire behavior, and no growth or spot fires were observed. Hand crews finished line on the north portion of the fire. Structure protection equipment was staged in the area of Lake Agnes to be utilized if necessary. Crews have assessed repair work needed near Latigo Ranch, and work has begun. Today crews will continue with ground operations on the north perimeter of the fire to improve line currently in place and monitor fire behavior. Air support will be available. The Silver Creek Fire, located 16 miles northwest of Kremmling, Colorado was started by lightning on July 19, 2018. There are currently 290 personnel assigned to the Silver Creek Fire. The fire is currently 20,120 acres and 60 percent contained.

Ryan Fire Current Situation: Yesterday, higher humidity and lower temperatures moderated fire activity on many parts of the fire. However, the fire remained active with group tree torching in the northern corner of the fire. Structure protection crews increased measures around private property and structures in the Pearl, Colorado and Skyline, Wyoming areas. Night operations to protect private property continued. Today crews will focus on three priority areas. Crews will work to strengthen protections around private property on both the north and south sides of the fire. Crews and equipment will identify areas of heat along the northern corner of the fire and engage the fire where and when it can safely be accomplished. Heavy equipment crews continue to clear Forest Service roads of downed trees and other debris to increase crew mobility and safety.
Although the preliminary investigation indicates that the fire was likely the result of an escaped campfire, the fire does remain under investigation and anyone with information that may assist in the fire investigation should call the fire information line at 307-314-9408. The Ryan Fire, located 27 miles northwest of Walden, Colorado, started on September 15, 2018. There are 360 personnel assigned to the Ryan Fire. The fire is currently 28,409 acres and 35 percent contained.

Since a period of rain has arrived, this will be the last wildfire update I'll do. Been a horrible hot dry summer.

Yesterday morning we had the most rain we've had for the season-about a half inch in 20 minutes-along with it was 50 to 60 mph winds. But it was in the Loma/Fruita area. 11 News said grand junction only got one tenth of an inch. I was in GJ this afternoon and it cut loose around 29 and North for about 20 minutes.

This week I have over an inch of rain. The Grand Mesa and San Juans have snow. Time for the 2019 winter thread?

Agree. Time to 'unstick' this one and start the winter sticky thread.
