There is little difference today.

MT, WA, OR fell also. ID and WY have a small contingent of reasonable citizens, but there are CA influences in all the western states.

Consider moving overseas. (Or maybe ND or AK)
Not entirely true. The FRONT RANGE has changed, but most of Colorado has not. The issue for the OP is that he has to decide if Denver is the only city in which he can work.

I would say from an outsider's perspective in meeting many born and raised in CO - It is more "Libertarian" than Conservative per se.

I don't think CO is going to give you the type of conservatives you see in Tennessee nor the type of hyper-liberals you may encounter in CA or NY. You won't fully escape, but you will certainly have an easier time at it in CO than remaining in California.

It's when the electorate changes that you have lost the battle. Fortunately, CO has a few dispersed regions.

WA and OR are entirely controlled by a very small geographic region (3 counties control the vote of the entire state), can happen to CO (to an extent). Fortunately you have a population base in CoS that keeps Denver metro in check. And good thing that Weld County has a good sized population.

Seems a lot of former Californians are happy in Texas

16% (10) of Colorado's 64 counties are 80% of the vote:
Denver
El Paso
Jefferson
Arapahoe
Adams
Larimer
Douglas
Boulder
Weld
Pueblo

The OP sounds like he would like living in Salt Lake City.

Would you mind expounding on the above? Definitions are tough, I know. I'm a recent transplant from Massachusetts to the Western Slope and I know there are assumptions about "liberal Massachusetts" that don't make sense to me. I do see the many slams on California (or at least the two major cities) and wonder what the references pertain to.

Why don't you move to South Dakota. It's full of close minded conservatives who don't care about the well being of anyone who isn't old, white, and middle class. I'm sure you'd fit right in.

The irony of your post, if you cared about everybody, you would be in open arms to regardless what political spectrum they fall under.

For Colorado, legal recreational marijuana, Democrat governor, Democrat mayor of Denver.

For LA and SF, legal recreational marijuana. Democrat mayors and governor. Sex, drugs and rock and roll as a visible and accepted part of the culture for the past 50 years.
