One warning about the drive:

There is a speed trap at Twin Lakes. Right by this town of roughly 5 buildings, the speed limit suddenly drops from 55 to 35. There is a cop dutifully posted very close to the place it drops. He was there both early morning on my way there, and late afternoon, on my way home.

The Maroon Bells are largely composed of metamorphic sedimentary mudstone which is soft in nature and tends to move/collapse without warning making these particular set of fourteeners extremely dangerous to traverse. For those who are bold enough to embark on this journey, please, please use extreme caution.

It's a mannequin in a police car.

They took that cue from the Sheriff's car in Alma. Of course, Park County then mixed it up by having a real one in Fairplay, who would nail you after you decided not to slow down for another mannequin in a marked car.

I slow down every time in Twin Lakes because I think maybe this time it'll be real!
