Drove up to Summit Co. this morning from Jeffco. Usually takes me 1h 15m. This morning it took 2h 30m due to traffic. Roads were fine, just lots of traffic.

Guess everyone made it a 3 days weekend with the recent snow. If I only could ski weekends, I probably would give it up.

I've seen it too even on weekdays now. Gotta love the growth!

Some week days are like weekends were 20 years ago in regards to traffic on the roads and on the slopes.

Once the boards are strapped on you forget about it (!).

I came home today early afternoon (very cold and windy up there), and the uphill traffic was a crawl for about 20 miles.

I'm reaching that point. I used to ski religiously every Saturday from November to April. The past few years have killed my motivation. I do live in the Springs, so the back route to Breck is an option as well as Monarch. I really enjoy Copper and Winter Park, but those just aren't an option anymore.

There is just no good options that involve i-70. A couple weeks ago, I tried to do something different. Since Keystone has night skiing, I figured I'd go up later and ski afternoon/evening and avoid the traffic. Even at 11am, still took me 3 hours to get from COS to Dillon. Left Keystone at 7:30pm and i-70 east was still a mess.

A lot of people from work go on the weekends then whine about traffic and having to search for resorts with a parking spot available... I don't get it. They knew that'd be the case but they keep doing it. Maybe it's buyers guilt for feeling the need to use their passes a lot. If you calculate the ticket price and the time of your drive as time you could be working, the hobby is stupid expensive.

Once spring breaks over in mid April the traffic dies quite a bit. Other than that, I've just resigned to the fact that if I want to ski (I go about 3-4 times a year) It's either in April or a week day. Took a PTO and went on a Wednesday 2 weeks ago and we had the road and mountain to ourselves.

If I want to do something on the weekends, I pick a different hobby, X country skiing, pulling sleds with 4 wheelers, mountain biking when it's warm or something like that that you don't have to go on 70 for. There's much more than skiing to do.

The downside of doing something popular. Is better elsewhere? California, Utah, N.M.?

It's better in other cities in Colorado that do not rely on I-70. If I had to use I-70 for most of the trip, I wouldn't do it.

Nobody goes skiing anymore. It’s too crowded.

My kids are in Vail’s program every Saturday. We stay up there on the weekends because I couldn’t make them get up as early as you need to. When it’s just me, I’ll be on the road at 5:30 and go to A Basin. It’s not bad. The toll lane is great on the way home.

Leave my house at 6:20, get there by 8:30 or so (Bel Mar to Keysyone) get 7-12 runs in before noon and leave, back by 2. I’ve never parked in the overflows either..

Go every weekend, it’s never THAT bad. You guys are just divas

I go during the weekdays at times too, but weekends don’t bother me.
