Lots of good books on political theory out there. You should read one.
Sanders is closer to a Scandanavian-style social democrat than he is to a democratic socialist since he is not post-capitalist.

This is an important clarification and post -- thank you.

True democratic socialism would mean that the workers own the means of production. In contrast, in capitalism the means of production are private property. I know this isn't a political thread per se, but it is important to understand the meaning of terms and concepts -- even if you disagree or don't like the concepts.

I know it would be a shallow voter who considers a candidate's last name to be a factor, but I'd at least nod at the possibility.
If someone with the name Barack Obama can be elected POTUS, I think that someone with the last name of Hickenlooper could, too.

And the middle name of Hussein! I figured that would be the end of the story.
I'd like to know more about Hickenlooper being from the Main Line of Philadelphia and how he ended up being a Colorado figure. Very East Coast background.

There are some success stories for you. How can anyone support him?

How long will it take for people outside Colorado to get past Hickenlooper's folksy personality and see who he really is?

A little bit of the story here:

“Hickenlooper can trace family ties back to Robert Morris, the financier of the American Revolution whose statue stands by Independence Mall. He graduated from Wesleyan University and made his way to Colorado to work as a geologist.”

Thank you for the info! I grew up outside Philly and never heard that last name among all the Revolution history surrounding us south Jersey kids. (Enough field trips to the Betsy Ross House, already!)

You’re welcome!

I didn’t know that his family traced their roots back that far.
I find it rather fascinating.
