Hickenlooper for 2020? (move, residential, retire)

Its hard to say he was a bad Gov. The state economy never dropped much during the recession and it way ahead now and theres no looking back. How much he had to do with it is debatable.

He was fairly in the middle, but my biggest gripe is when asked his opinion on the death penalty he had a non answer. You either have an opinion or you dont so IMO he's a yes man.

Either way the Dem party is in chaos. They are having their tea party moment with the full on marxist views Sanders and AOC are pushing. The economy is strong, we are in fewer wars, unemployment is so low you have to try not to work at this point.....Trump wins easily.

There's an interesting opinion piece in the Washington Post, which basically says Hickenlooper's style of governing can't work in our country today.

The final paragraph says

. . .But if you don’t have a plan for overcoming Republican opposition that takes that opposition as a given — not as something you can make disappear, but as something you must find a way to defeat or circumvent — you don’t have a plan for governing. And that’s something any Democrat who wants to be president ought to have.

I think Maduro would make a great VP candidate for Sanders. He's shown how well socialism works for the country with the world's largest oil reserves, yet no toilet paper.

I don't understand why you use "marxist" to refer to Sanders or AOC. I do recognize that Sanders refers to democratic socialism at times, but he is using that term inaccurately, since his platform is mostly about addressing economic injustices (e.g., income inequality, healthcare for all, etc.). What do you see in their views that are particularly Marxist?

Hickenlooper is experienced in government and dignified, smart and well-spoken—all things that Trump is definitely not.

Hickenlooper and Amy Klobuchar would make a good team—sane and honest, something we no longer have with the current White House inhabitant. Dems will win if they have a good centrist candidate. A majority of voters are sick of the present administration.

But the current Dem candidates are very far left and would alienate some of their moderate voters, especially those over 30. They're just making it easy for Trump to win again in 2020.
