We are moving from across the country and have not been out to Denver too many times yet. My partner will be working for an engineering company in Littleton (just outside of it) and I will be attending graduate school at the University of Colorado at Boulder. What are some of the best places to look into where the commute won't be too heavy on either of us? I would be willing to take more of a commute because my classes are not every day. My program is only for a year..so having a longer commute before relocating once we are both in the job field doesn't bother me.

Thanks!

Lakewood (maybe northwest part), Wheat Ridge, Arvada, Golden. If you want to be outside the heart of the metro, give Golden a close look. If you go for one of the others, maybe try to stay on the west side of things.

Somewhere along one of these 2 routes..

2 things to bear in mind,
CO Hwy 93 from Golden to Boulder can be nasty in winter.
The exact co. location near Littleton might make a difference.

Good suggestions. Golden is nice but will probably be a fair bit more expensive than the others.

you might be able to find something close to Union Station and then take the bus to CU. I think grad students get a free bus pass, so it would be very easy.

Any commuting savings will be eaten by the high cost of living in the heart of downtown.

Yep, and they might like that trade.
