Here's a link to some amazing color slides taken in the 1939-1943 era. Color slide film was fairly rare and expensive in that era. Sobering.

Slides 22, 24, 25 show Ouray and other parts of the Western Slope.

Several pix in there of NE, NM, WY and MT, not to mention a lot of eastern states. Well worth a look.

Amazing to see the dirt poor poverty that much of our nation endured 70 years ago and what we have now....counting my blessings....

Those are awesome Mike , thanks for sharing the link. Of course those were simpler times back then. I bet most were happy with what they had. I think I'd give up the stressful life of today to live back then even if meant having less.

I used to think about my father's era (born 1905) and the railroads we had then, which I'd love to see and work on, but only if I could avoid TB, Polio, WW-I, prohibition, Great Depression, and WW-II. I don't want to give up air conditioning, TV, jet travel, modern medicine, the interstate system, and the WWW.

Ha Ha this is true huh. We forget about those small details. Like my dad always says "Careful these might be the good ole days".

Great link. Funny how Pepsi-Cola cost the same as grapefruit and tobacco only twice as much as grapefruit. Wonder how prices got all wrong.
