Beautiful photos. I had a wonderful time visiting Grand Junction with a side trip to Canyonlands NP in Moab. Gorgeous scenery!

My morning coffee view. That’s the Colorado National Monument in the background.

Thanks for the photos, cheesehead, really enjoyed them. I lived in GJ when I was younger and it's on my short list for a retirement spot. Thinking long-term, do you have any concerns about water shortages, extreme heatwaves, power outages, etc?

When I lived in Denver, I had watering restrictions and power outages on a regular basis.

So far my water hasn’t been restricted and we haven’t lost power. It does get hot here in summer, but winters are far more mild than the Front Range.

Quick trip up to the top of the Grand Mesa - world’s largest flat top mountain - forms the eastern boundary of the Grand Valley.

Flew in/out of Grand Junction for the first time earlier this week. Here is a landing approach shot of part of the Grand Mesa and the east side of Palisade.
GJ airport is a breeze too. Parking right in front. Easy in, easy out. It was busy so I guess that’s a good sign.

The San Juan’s and all they have to offer are less than a two hour drive from the Grand Valley. They make for a relatively low traffic, easy weekend get away. Ouray and Silverton pictured.
