Water boils at a temperature of 186F on Pikes Peak.

I can't think of a word that rhymes with giraffe or orange.

Golden Retrievers dream of nothing but bananas.

Moths are unable to fly during an earthquake.

By the year 5400 AD, man will have two rectums but only one nostril.

If you apply 50 volts to a cat soaked in penguin urine, the cat's tail will point north.

That reminds me of the time I tried to teach the dog not to scratch the screen door.

The dog was smart enough to know what an electric fence controller wired up to the door meant, but the Avon lady wasn't....

So, the Avon lady got a free sample of the new French fragrance, "Eau de Voltage." Got to love it when the plan comes together . . .

Default OK, How about some serious Colorado trivia?

Few people know it, but modern America (and, indeed, the whole world) really got its start near Telluride, Colorado. No, it wasn't some crystal-induced vision. What occurred at Ames, near Telluride, was the first commercial generation and transmission of Alternating Current electrical power anywhere in the world. AC power, of course, is the basis for our whole electrical grid and everything it runs. Many historians credit this first to the hydroelectric plant built at Niagara Falls in the mid-1890's, but the plant at Ames went into operation in 1890, several years earlier. The same pioneers who built the Ames plant--L. L. Nunn of Telluride, Nichola Tesla, and George Westinghouse--were all involved in the building of the Niagara plant a few years later.

You can read more history here: Nunn, Lucien

Amazingly, the Ames Power Plant, (see it here: HYDRO POWER GENERATING PLANT - AMES, COLORADO and read its "official" status here: Xcel Energy ) though minuscule by today's standards, still operates, making its contribution to the nation's power grid. Few people from outside of the immediate area, and not that many even close-by, even know the plant exists--but nearly every aspect of modern technology owes its existence to that small little plant laboring in relative obscurity in the Colorado mountains.

How do you make a dog sound like a cat?

Put it outside for 12 hours on a cold -15 deg Colorado night until it's stiff as a board, then run it through a bandsaw.

Meeeeeeeeeeeeoooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

wow, this off topic thread is so off topic. hahahaha

So I posted this on the Denver forum but no one cares. : ( I'm bummed out. I wanted to sell our house in Thornton and move downtown, but rents are out of this world. What the heck happened? Are we snobs now? We must have our big house and can't move to a smaller apt.? The ones we saw were dumps. We tried to find ones semi-close to downtown, but the reviews are scary. So I guess we just park our butts in Thornton for another year or two. : (
