I had similar thoughts when I saw it.

I made only a half hearted attempt to read it, making it thru a line or two. Having no idea what the poster was asking for, I then directed the poster to the thread that Mike Form Back East compiled some time ago..

Gawd, now there's a short version. Let's just call it "The Thread That Wouldn't Die". Told ya it was for real! Morons-the world's full of 'em.

I'll tell you another thing I'm getting tired of-- people posting in the Colorado forum when their question is best asked in the Denver forum. Every day, it's the same thing: "Hi.... I'm uh... thinking about moving to Colorado. I heard Littleton, Lakewood, Highlands Ranch is nice. And can you tell me about Aurora? Where should I move?" How about for starters, post it in the right forum. Maybe I'm off here, but I thought the Colorado forum was about statewide issues and discussing places other than the Front Range, which already has four forums of its own. Or I am just turning into another "curmudgeon" here?

No, you're not another "curmudgeon", vegas, but I do think these folks who have never been here, and to boot often have not been CD members long, don't know how it really works. Telling them to re-post in Denver is doing them a favor, so continue.

as a poster of stupid, unanswerable posts, i find this post stupid, and unanswerable lol J/K
gee wow.... sometime i think i post stupid questions, but they don't seem stupid till i revisit them. i had no idea you guys all got together and clown us stupid-posters! think i'll just read from now on... :P
alot of people who are planning a big move are just indecisive and excited, and maybe we just don't know what to ask sometimes. who knows, maybe they are whizzes when it comes to another city/state, and help alot of people out with great info. whatever the case, with me your pretty much guaranteed run-on sentences... sorry... me engrish not so gud.
i have to wonder though, how long this forum would last if a question was only allowed to be asked once, or even 10 times for that matter! LOL
pretty soon though, i'll make myself useful by plastering these photo threads with all kinds of southwestern-ness lol
cheers!

I think we should just start at 12 o'clock and start naming cities for those who want to know where they should live. But you have to include HR as a city.
You know the posts I talking about: "Blah blah blah, three kids/no kids but 3 dogs/rent under $400 a month for a 4 bedroom house with a large back yard. blah blah blah."

How can you senior members who constantly post nothings complain about anyone else. I love reading these to see how people in colorado think as I will be spending summers there and sometimes even get some good info. But most of the time it is just plain entertaining and jazzlover and crew don't post anything any more important than anyone else most of the time, it's all about hearing ourselves speak and some of us think we speak more importantly than anyone else, which isn't always so.

larslarson and famlife, I think you made some good points. However, the longer I am on this board, the more I see that a person moving to Point B from Point A should not try to find a home to buy/rent for a specific amount of money, before they learn what the average home price/rent in that area is. For ex: "I'm looking for a 4 BR, 3000 sq. ft house for $150K", or "I'm looking to rent a 2 BR apt. for $300/mo that allows dogs and iguanas", or "I'm looking to rent a house for $500/mo". Instead, it might be wise to ask: "What is the average price for the above?" I personally have told people not to set a housing budget until they get out here and look at properties. I do agree we should not dampen newbies' enthusiasm with sarcastic posts, but I do think we should be realistic.

Agreed. There's so many resources on the net for finding information like that about another city that people shouldn't really have to ask locals. Rent.com, craigs list, or realtor.com are great places to get a basic idea about the housing costs of a city so you'll know if $1000/mo or $4000/mo is normal for a 2 bedroom apartment. One you have a general idea where rents or houses are higher or lower, then the locals can help out. For example, when I first started researching housing costs on realtor.com, the cheapest stuff I found was in Commerce City. That's where READING city-data helped me realize there was a reason its cheap. Probably 95% of questions can be answered by searching city-data before asking.
