Or we could do that. Refer them to the indexes. Good job BTW Mike.

I especially like the advanced search with a subforum selected like a state or a city and a few keywords in the top left section and a poster's name in the top right if handy, then you can even use a time serch like yesterday or from here to there...

It's one heck of a way to narrow stuff down.

Flashforward to NewAge: That's what my post #149 was about. Did that "miss the point"?

Mike and Dawg...you guys are missing the point. Some of the newbies don't want to do ANY work. They want US to do it for em! It's much easier that way.

True. I say to stiff those who are lazy louts, let them do their own work.

We get tired of keying in the same answers to same old questions over and over, that's when I refer them to the index.

I won't reply to threads in the General category when someone throws out a topic, with NO point of view or premise at all, and order readers to "discuss." IMO, these kids can go write their own homework or term paper assignments.

I agree. I also won't find jobs for people, but I will lead them to some leads. I let people do their own googling.

Oh, and the balloon can look like Mr. Mackey, MmmmKay?
I like that idea.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and support!

Question Hopefully not a silly question

In 1973 I bought 11 acres in San Luis. For some reason I've kept paying taxes on this absolutely barren piece of property. I've been getting about 3 phone calls a week this past month, urging me to sell my land to developers at less than I paid for it so long ago. I was wondering if anyone knew of a property development program, manufacturing program, etc, in Blanca or San Luis area, that might be starting up, to cause this type of inquiry. I have attempted to start a subscription to La Sierra, but noone answers the phone when I call (yes, I did check the time difference), so I'm putting this query out there for a response. I do, sincerely, appreciate any information you might have. Thanks, Kilted Traveler.

I love this thread!!

I would also like to take this opportunity as a relatively new poster to thank ALL you guys (esp. Mike from back east for the Indexes!!) for all of your invaluable first-hand knowledge.

I try to do as much research as I can on my own before asking questions but I am very glad to have you guys and your insights. It made my trip out here to visit and do some research *so* much more productive! I had a lot of good data to start off with instead of having to figure out absolutely everything on my own.

p.s.- Are we allowed to ship Prairie Dogs? I have some people I think might do well with a dose of bubonic plague.

Lets take up a collection. How much does it cost to ship a couple colonies to DC?

The latest estimate from the Boulder Daily Camera (as of 9/12/08) is $380,000.00 to move 500 or so, plus "another handful." Now, they'll only be moved a few miles, so it might not be a good price to rely on, but it's a starting point.

Boulder to remove, euthanize prairie dogs
Cost of efforts could top $380,000

Quote:
Boulder officials have finalized plans to relocate hundreds of prairie dogs inhabiting four city-owned sites, and to euthanize hundreds more.

The plans call for spending as much as $388,400 on removing the rodents, capturing and euthanizing others, fumigating those left behind in their burrows and installing metal barriers so they don’t return.

According to the 19-page document on the issue, prepared by interim City Manager Stephanie Grainger, about 500 prairie dogs need to be relocated from the future site of the Valmont City Park, while 50 more need to be removed from the city’s new Fire Training Center site near Boulder Reservoir. A handful of the animals will also have to be temporarily removed from a site near the city’s 75th Street wastewater treatment plant for the installation of a new solar array. Those lucky rodents will be allowed back, however, after the array is complete.

I strongly object to the use of the term "rodent." They are to be referred to from this point forth as Prairie-Americans. After watching Washington politics at work this week, I am convinced that one of them could one day be President. Fleas and bubonic plague would make them the least offensive inhabitants of the White House in decades.
