Is anyone besides me getting tired of stupid, unanswerable posts?
Maybe it's because it's spring, and everyone's mind is elsewhere or something, but it seems that the Colorado forum is getting inundated with inane posts that basically are unanswerable. Things sort of like these types of one or two-sentence posts with no other information:
"I spent one day in Colorado five years ago. It was cool. Tell me where I can move there where I would be happy."
"I want to live in Colorado. Please tell me all about it."
"I want to live where salaries are huge, living costs are minimal, there is no crime, there is no traffic, there are all kinds of cultural amenities, and it's wilderness. What town would fit what I want?"
"I want to find a job in Colorado. Are there any?"
There are plenty of people on the Colorado forum who are quite willing to answer specific questions about all sorts of things concerning Colorado, but it's hard to forgive people who post these sorts of drivel questions without spending enough time doing a little research to actually ask something that is just a little bit specific and coherent. The search function on City-data works quite well, too. Chances are most questions have already been answered at least once already.
Kudos to our Moderator, Suzco, for trying to send some of these queries to other threads, etc., but some of these people should just be told to either post a question that someone might actually be able to answer, or quit wasting the time of people who read the stuff.
(Disclaimer: In order not to be accused of making personal attacks, I have not directly quoted any exact post on the Colorado forum, but posts with similar questions to my examples are plentiful these days.)

Doesn't really get me down--I just blow past 'em. Like they say, you sift through enough horse manure, you will find some oats . . . But, there are people actually using City-data to really research a place to live are asking intelligent questions. They have to sift through all of that garbage, too.

while we are talking pet peeves....
Here are 2 of my pet peeves
1- Ask a question asking for lots of data. Get 3=4 pages of good solid data along with requests for additional information to help the OP. OP never posts back to say thanks or reply in general.
2- person is moving here, asks for tons of info. Gets the info and never checks back in on the OP. Did they end of moving?
oh oh oh,
Thought of another one-
3- Person posts the same general post asking about jobs, housing, crime, weather on multiple boards with the same story about how they want to move there.

I like this thread.
Yes, I get tired of the above that jazzlover noted and also dj32's pet peeves. Sometimes I go to some effort to look something up, and as my brother likes to say, "they don't say thank you and they don't say ***** you".
Also, people who expect us to do their job hunting for them. I know how to find a job in my profession. I knew it when I was 22 yrs old. It bugs me when people say, what IT companies (for example) are in Denver? How do I apply for a job doing XYZ?, etc.
People who ask, how far from point A to point B? I can see asking drive time; it can be deceiving, but distances? Ditto, what suburbs are close to (insert name of city)? If you are really thinking of moving here, you will need a map. One time someone asked something like "where can I live within 30 min of Aurora?" I suggested getting a map and drawing a circle with a radius of about 20 miles. S/he said it was the best advice he got on the question.
One last one: My spouse just got a job in (insert name of suburban city in CO). Where should we look for housing? Why not start with the town where you will be living, then move out from there if you don't like it? Why assume you should live somewhere other than where you work?
I better quit. I'm glad we can't get negative rep anymore. BTW, I think suzco is a great mod!

Thanks for the compliments.
Each time I see one of those types of posts, I hope that everyone will either ignore them, or point the poster to the index threads.
I feel like a broken record, and I'm tired of talking about the weather.
Besides, Mike from back east spent much time and effort to compile those index threads.

You're not alone jazz, you're not alone!
Can those types of posts be written from a place of anything other than sheer idiocy? I suffer these fools mostly by ignoring their posts, but if I'm in a really good mood, I might respond. Usually the result of that is having to then experience the pet peeves mentioned by dj32. I notice that Charles deals with this by directing a ton of questions right back at them. He has far more patience than I do. GO Charles!
The posts I find most annoying are the ones that start like this: Should I.....
When I see a Should I post, it makes me think that these people are still waiting for mommy and daddy to give them permission to get a life.

I too, am tired of the weather stuff. It seems like concerns about the snow pop up in the summer, when we are baking in 99 degrees. At least it was last summer. One suggestion: could we have a sticky thread that says "Welcome to the Colorado forum" that explains the indexes, etc? Some states have those.
