What size lot are you looking for?
What are you looking for (trees, mountains, horse property...)
What price range are you considering?

A lot depends on what you want the land for, and your planned use of it. Multifamily, horse, fishing/hunting, single family...next question is flat of hilly?

Horses? other animals? Well & Septic? Good schools? Dirt roads? Mountain or Plain?

What are you looking to spend? How much of that land will end up as grass to be watered?

There is a lot to be considered when you are looking for land to build a house on.

what area / service of denver do you want to be within 1 hr of?

if it is just 'the city' / airport', then I'd look to Lyons/Berthoud/Loveland/Windsor area (ez escape to WY or RMNP for recreation, mild climate, nice towns), but... if you like Colorado recreation, I'd head SW of Denver (a long ways from airport...) to get a head start to premium Colorado recreation sites
