I've heard good things about the high school in Telluride. The following link will give you more information on the K-12 schools there:

I will check ..
Walter Kelly .
Many say Schools are top up there.
I make many trips up to Telluride as we have some key Real Estate Deals up there.

They ought to be "top notch", as property taxes are so high there the old hangers on have been forced to move out. What you have is a superficially beautiful place occupied by no one from there, essentially an assortment of elitist trustafarians.

That is a perfect description. I know a number of Telluride natives who had to move out of there in the last 20 years because it just became unaffordable, including a couple of them who were third generation from there.
However scholastically good the schools might be, there is no way that they could be socially "normal," given the demographics of the community itself.

All the kids smoke pot and ski, ski, ski. And they are all very intelligent and fun people to be around. So I'm assuming the school system is pretty good.

I don't smoke pot, so no offense taken, but apparently you haven't been to Telluride. The kids there are very intelligent and creative. In fact, everyone in Telluride is just plain awesome. I have never met a bad apple in that town. If you are friendly and laid-back yourself, the locals will make you feel right at home. It's one of my favorite places to get away.
