There's a good market in Ouray, not a chain, Duckett's. People favor it over Montrose, often.

I live down the road in Ridgway and say, if you have housing sorted out, you're all set. All you have to do is enjoy the gorgeousness here. Yes, lots of tourists but that's how most people make a living. Feel free to DM me with any specific questions you might have. Also, I'd be happy to meet you for coffee or lunch when you arrive. I've talked a few people into Ridgway from C-D, and no complaints so far!

There's a Facebook group called Ridgway-Ouray residents that is very helpful (by invite for residents only). You can ask for a worker to fix an air conditioner or about parking somewhere or whatever your questions might be (nothing political or negative). I found it very helpful three years ago and still do.

Have you visited Ouray? And were you able to find a place to live? Ouray is in a box canyon, and in summer is overloaded with tourists, thousands and thousands of tourists. There are also bear who like to wander in yards ( don't feed them ). In winter it can snow so much they run out of places to put it. It's a breathtaking beautiful small town, named for the Ute Indian Chief Ouray, and was started as a mining town, there are still operating mines in the area and tons of old mine ruins and ghost towns. Nicknamed "Switzerland of America".

Good luck, I envy you.
